This course on the fundamentals of grant-writing will provide learners with comprehensive knowledge of writing grant applications. Beginning with information on types of grants and the current grant climate, the course will continue with the importance of preparation, the need for persuasive techniques and explanations of the parts of the grant application and how to approach them. As the course proceeds, learners will complete exercises to increase their understanding of the grant application process. Emphasis throughout will be on writing applications that strive for the perfection necessary to their success.
Providing funding through grants is one of the primary ways that government and private sector foundations achieve their strategic priorities - working with academic researchers and community organizations to support their work and drive results. With so many different organizations and individuals competing for funding, it’s important to write strong, impactful funding proposals that clearly communicate why your project is the most impactful, and the most likely to achieve the funder’s desired result. This course will build on the basics of Fundamentals of Writing Grant Applications to show how comprehensive writing and budgeting, clear alignment with priorities, and strong communication and reporting with funders can be used to make your proposal the most successful one.
