Graduate Admissions

Application Deadlines

Applicants are required to submit a complete application (including all relevant items on the Graduate Application Checklist located at ) by the Application deadlines listed below.  For equal consideration, and to ensure adequate time to apply for a study permit, we recommend that you apply as early as possible. 

Completed applications, received by the deadlines, will be considered for admission to the preferred term. An application will be considered incomplete, requiring the applicant to apply again, if supporting documents have not been received.  


International Graduate Application Deadlines:

  • September Intake: April 15 (or respecting the Program-Specific deadlines listed below)
  • January Intake: August 15 
  • May Intake (where applicable): January 15

Transcripts

Applicants to Second-entry (graduate or undergraduate) level university programs, must arrange to have official transcripts sent directly to the Office of Admissions and must be received by the application deadline. For transcripts to be considered ''official'', they must be sent directly from the Registrar's Office to our Admissions Office, be imprinted with the school's seal and/or bear the appropriate signature. We will not use opened transcripts sent by the candidates. We do not accept faxed transcripts.

Submitting Official Documents from Institutions in the People’s Republic of China

Applicants who have obtained degrees from Mainland China should provide both the degree certificate (学位认证)and the graduation certificate (毕业认证) from the .

Applicants who have obtained degrees from universities in Mainland China are required to provide a valid Online Verification Report of the Higher Education Qualification Certificate (教育部学历认证书电子注册备案表) in Chinese and English, together with their degree certificate and graduation certificate.

We ask that you contact both CHESICC (学信网) (for the official transcripts) and the CDGDC (学位网) (for the degree certificates) and request that your transcripts and degree certificate(s), if applicable, be sent directly to Porn研究所.

In order to fulfill your conditions of admission, Porn研究所 requires that you provide the following electronically:

  1. Final Official Transcripts – English and Chinese from CHESSICC (学信网)
  2. Degree Certificate(s) – English only from CDGDC (学位网)


Please note that if you have attended an institution in a special administrative region (e.g. Hong Kong) you will not be able to request your credentials to be sent via CDGDC or CHESSICC. Please submit a WES course by course evaluation as described here

Important Notice for Incoming Students: For new Graduate Studies students, the deadline to present an official course-by-course World Education Services report to the Office of Admissions has been extended. Failure to submit this document and/or failure to meet the minimum entrance requirements for your program will result in your dismissal from the program and University. Refunds will not be issued if the student is asked to withdraw.

 

The World Education Services (WES) credential evaluation is a comparison of your academic accomplishments according to standards in a Canadian post-secondary institution. This report allows Porn研究所 to better understand and give credit for your educational background. Porn研究所 requires a Course-by-Course Evaluation for all Graduate level admissions.

The Course-by-Course Evaluation will do the following:

  • Identify and describe your previous post-secondary credentials

  • Verify that your credentials are authentic

  • Provide the Canadian equivalency of your credential and GPA

  • List all your courses and grades 

Applicants also have the option to upgrade to an International Credential Advantage Package (ICAP); WES will store your verified transcripts and evaluation report for easy sending to universities and approved licensing bodies at any time. 

Your WES report will be completed within seven business days of receipt, review, and acceptance of all documents by WES and payment in full. Please contact WES directly with any questions you may have about the evaluation process: . 

How to Apply for & Submit a WES Report:

  2. We ask that you read all of the steps and follow the instructions as indicated by the World Education Services website.

  3. Visit to ensure that all required documents have been prepared and sent following the expectations of the World Education Services team.

  5. Please note that a Course-by-Course evaluation is required.

  • Add Porn研究所 as a receiving institution and WES will send your report to us electronically. You are not required to send the report in any other format if you select this option. 

  • The overall cost of the WES report will be approximately $320 CAN ($245 for the WES evaluation, $35 to add Porn研究所 as an institution and $7 for delivery charges, plus the 13% Harmonized Sales Tax in Ontario). Up to date fees can be found directly on the WES website.

Language Requirements

Requirements for Evidence of English Language Proficiency

If English is not your first language or mother tongue, you should provide evidence of your English language proficiency through one of the entry requirements or language tests below.

Academically admissible applicants who do not present appropriate English Proficiency Requirements will be automatically offered a conditional offer of admission based on completion of the English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program in Porn研究所’s Language Institute.   

English Proficiency Requirements

Minimum score/level

You have been educated in Canada and your first language is English, or you are a bilingual Francophone Canadian.

Equivalent of grade 12 academic English

Completion of one of two approved English language programs: 

Students can meet language requirements for direct entry by pursuing one of the following: 

1. Completing Porn研究所's EAP Level 3 (CEFR C1) with a minimum overall score of 70%. 

This program is offered at Porn研究所 with intakes in September, January and May. Each level of the program is 11 weeks.

2. Completing the International Language Academy Of Canada () EAP Level 16 or Certificate PW 3.3 for direct entry into Porn研究所 programs.

Note: English as a Second Language (ESL) programs do not qualify you for this exemption and cannot be included in the number of years of full-time education in an English-language school system.  IB and/or AP English courses also do not qualify for an exemption from the English language requirements.

Note:  English language test scores are valid if completed within 2 years of when we review your application.

 

How to submit your English language test scores

We require official test scores sent by the testing agency directly to Porn研究所’s Office of Admissions. Faxes, email copies, and student copies of test scores are not accepted as official documents for admission. Students are also able to upload unofficial copies of their language score at my.laurentian.ca. However, this will result in a conditional offer of admission until the official document has been received.

 

Important notes

The University reserves the right to revise or withdraw an offer of admission if you fail to meet the minimum English language requirements for the program to which you have applied.

The University reserves the right to revise or withdraw an offer of admission if you fail to present a language score at the time of application and present the score at a later date.

The University reserves the right to request an English language test result from any applicant.

To be admitted to a program offered in French or a bilingual program, a student must meet one of the following criteria:
 

  • Three years of full-time study in a high school or post-secondary institution where French is the language of instruction (documentation must be provided by the student)
  • A minimum grade of C-1 (advanced) on the Test de connaissance du français (TCF), version for prospective students
  • A minimum score of C-1 at the written component of the Test d'évaluation du français (TEF)
  • Diplôme approfondi de langue française (DALF) with a minimum score of C-1 (this test would be a permanent addition to our website).
